How FOMO got started
At the height of the worst vacancy crisis commercial property on Forus had ever seen, we bought 35,000 square metres of empty office space. John Fredriksen, the seller, summed us up at his annual dinner: “These Stavanger investors must be pretty crazy.”
We emptied every savings account and maxed out our credit lines. There were more kroner in the deal than brain cells in our heads. If it didn't work, the profits from a lifetime of hard work would go up in smoke, for every one of us.
The year is 2019, and we have no idea a pandemic is on its way. So yes, maybe we were a little crazy.
The unstoppable force
Spring of 2020. The world goes into shutdown and the media sing in chorus: “The home office will replace office buildings.” The bank calls. Nerves are on edge. We have just taken out a ten million EURO loan and are busy painting things pink and hanging parrots from the ceiling.
At this point many would probably have given up, but we sent a letter to the bank: “The human need to gather has never changed. Not even the Black Death managed to wipe out our unstoppable search for community. Covid will be no exception.”

The founder’s vision

Two of our operating companies are built as genuine partnerships — where the people who run them have equity stake.
Race AS (40%) — founded by Astrid Eik and Rudi Clausen — alongside Wild Bill AS (60%). Race AS brings deep expertise in hospitality, food and events, and shares both the ownership and the ambition of Funky FOMO.
Siri Øvstebø (20%) alongside Wild Bill AS (80%). Siri leads FOMO Design as CEO and co-owner — bringing both creative direction and personal commitment to every project.
FOMO Works, Funky FOMO and FOMO Design operate as independent companies within the group — each led by their own CEO, each building the FOMO ecosystem from their own angle.
